Hi, I think this is a link for men of faith. I am a single mom raising a young 8 year old on my own. There are times where I wish he had a positive male role model. I really went on line looking for resources for single parents. I thought this might be a resource but it looks like it is for men. Since I am raising a young man, I decided to write anyway. I am feeling isolated, have tried big brothers, have a boy who is challenging authority and I keep thinking that I need additional resources.

Hi Kirs,

I too am a single mother raising a 15 year old young man on my own. I realize the need for our young men to have positive male role models in their lives and I am very intentional about seeking mentors for my son. I came to this website looking for resources to help my son grow spiritually into the man God has called him to be.

I have found that through praying specifically for positive male role models for my son, God has provided in numerous ways. Getting plugged into a good church has been helpful for us. You may want to talk to someone in the men’s ministry at your church and express your desire for finding a Christian male role model to mentor your son.

I have also found that socializing with other Christian families has helped build relationships between my son and other fathers that have taken my son under their wing.

I am praying for you and your son and trust that God will rise up those godly men that your son needs in his life, and that they will encourage him as well as show him what it looks like to be a man after God’s own heart.

I trust that God will bring the resources, people and tools that you and your son need.

It would be great if the Wild At Heart Ministry had some kind of program (like the Wild Men Boot Camp) for young men that come from fatherless homes to help them navigate their way through adolescence and into manhood.
