Shepherd’s Village Outreach News

Saturday November 13, 2010 the Wildmen organized and worked a Car Care day for the single parents of Shepherd’s Village. They performed oil changes, windshield wiper blade replacement, and general cleaning and maintenance on the vehicles. There were gifts for the ladies consisting of cosmetics, supplies, gift cards and time. Below is a letter that the Director of Shepherd’s Village sent to us recently. To God be the glory!

To all God’s Wild Men Servants,

I continue to rejoice in the life-changing hours of this past Saturday as your ministry spent so many hours in the labor of service to change the oil, provide windshield wipers, and wash and clean the vehicles of the single parents (and grandparent) of the Shepherd’s Village families.  Your  hearts and compassion were clearly visible as you became the Gospel in flesh suits.  Thank you so much for boldly stepping out of a “normal” Saturday of many responsibilities and options, and caring enough to come along side those who are often “the least of these.”

Please extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who worked so diligently, to those who provided the gift of bags of cosmetics, to those who made all the supplies possible, and to those who shared the Good News and brought warm invitations to future Bible studies and ministry, and to those who made the very generous gift certificates to each parent an enormous blessing.  One mother, whose ancient vehicle was a true challenge, was overwhelmed by the respect and dignity given to her, and when she received the gift certificate and invitation to worship, said humbly, “now I can buy diapers on the way home.”  She had arrived at the work site through the kindness of another single parent who had filled her gas tank in order for her to drive the distance from St. Petersburg to Largo. Her car had been parked for days for lack of fuel.   Blessings come from all directions when we let the Lord lead, and He shows His forever faithfulness.

One of the true highlights of the day was the circle of prayer that placed the mothers and children in the midst of an encompassing Holy Spirit filled prayer time.  God touched each of their hearts to let them know He was truly their protector and provider, and they felt His presence.  Seldom have I, as their ministry partner, ever seen them moved with such an authentic touch of God – He was truly “restoring their souls” and giving them a new hope for their tomorrows.

Thank you again.  Your ministry will always have a special place in our hearts and we will pray for each of you, for your families, your vision, and your commitment to bring God the Glory in your homes and your community, as you serve the authentic Gospel and transform many lives.

You have been His faithful representatives, and we are reminded, “The Lord is my/our Shepherd and I/we shall not be in want…”  Thank you so much for being His gentle Wild Men!

God bless,
