Wild at Heart Boot Camp isn’t just another men’s retreat. That’s the last thing anybody needs. The reason most messages for men ultimately fail is simple: they ignore what is deep and true to a man’s heart and try to shape him up through various forms of pressure. Not this. This weekend is an honest, no-BS trek into the deep passions and desires of a man’s heart, the healing of the wounds he’s taken in this battle, the realm of fatherhood and sex and God and calling—life as it was meant to be lived. Through the sessions, times of quiet reflection, movies, adventures and downtime, you will discover something profound about the heart of God and the heart he gave you as a man. Those who come say it is one of the greatest weekends of their entire life.
COVID-19 safety protocol will be followed; please be prepared with masks and observe social distancing. Temperatures will be taken upon arrival.
We will be stationed on the ocean/leeward side of Catalina Island at the Two Harbors campground. In October our temperatures are mild with mid to upper 70’s as the high and upper 50’s to low 60’s for the low. You should use Avalon, CA for your weather apps.
Use this link to make your boat reservations with Catalina Express https://catalinaexpress.com/schedule-fares.html please select Avalon as the port of arrival. The commute time to Avalon from Long Beach is roughly 70 minutes, you should choose a departure time no later than 9:50 AM on October 19th to ensure that you will arrive before the second leg of the trip. We suggest your return trip is scheduled for the later afternoon/evening of October 22nd. Parking at the Catalina Express Landing is $19 per day, you may consider a driving service to avoid these fees. There is also the option of flying to Catalina via helicopter, this is a shorter commute but the cost is greater, more info available at https://iexhelicopters.com/catalina-island#fly-to-catalina. From Avalon you will take the CYCLONE to Two Harbors – the fee for the CYCLONE is included with your registration cost.
* More information on meeting time and place for the departure from Avalon to Two Harbors will be provided soon.
Our cabins max occupancy will be 4 men, feel free to bring your own tent if you prefer as there will be plenty of space with beautiful views of the ocean.
There are 3 outdoor showers at the campground free of charge, additional showers are available in the village of Two Harbors which is roughly a 10 min hike from our campsite and costs $2 per 3 minutes.
Internet access will not be available during the retreat. Laptops, electronic notepads, and camera use ARE NOT permitted during the teaching sessions as it is our desire to minimize all distractions during that time. There is also no available power source for charging such devices.
Although adventure and recreation will be available, much of the time will be devoted to personal reflection on what God is revealing throughout the week.
There are activities available for an additional cost such as: snorkeling (free if you have your own equipment), disc golf (free if you have your own discs), kayaking, mountain biking (you may bring your own bike and pay the $7 transportation fee for the Catalina Express – HELMETS REQUIRED) bike rentals are available, spear fishing (you must bring your own equipment), fishing (you must have your own rod/tackle – bait is available).
